Around the day in 80 worlds

Around The Day in 80 Worlds has visited several Mediterranean port cities each year :

2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

Around The Day in 80 Worlds is a Mediterranean cultural cooperation event. Launched in 2018, a new Mot pour Mot Marseille hub was created to build bridges between twin cities or cities with cooperation agreements with Marseille, the Euro-Mediterranean capital. Since its creation, seven editions have been successfully held. The 8th edition, scheduled for 2025, is currently being prepared. Building on this momentum, Mot pour Mot is renewing its partnership with CD13 and dedicating its 9th edition to two emblematic cities : Naples (Italy) and Tunis (Tunisia).

Around The Day in 80 Worlds is the embodiment of long-term, high-quality cooperation between the shores of the Mediterranean. True to its spirit of roaming, the event is continuing its exploration of the Mediterranean world, with new stops planned to extend and enrich this dynamic of cultural sharing : Tunis, Sousse, Naples, Genoa, Rabat, Marrakech, Casablanca, Alexandria, Istanbul, Barcelona, Piraeus, Limassol, Thessalonica, Tirana, etc.

Around The Day in 80 Worlds travels from port to port, from one shore to the other. A true laboratory for Franco-Mediterranean exchanges, the cooperation creates new spaces for reflection on societal issues and tools to be developed in favour of inter-cultural dialogue and the promotion of the French-speaking world.

Around The Day in 80 Worlds also explores the richness of plural identities, highlighting the linguistic, cultural and generational diversity of the audiences involved, with links to diasporas and younger generations. The show is multilingual, with texts shouted out in French and in the language of the country where the exchange is taking place, underlining the importance of dialogue between languages, imaginations and allegiances. It thus becomes a space for reinventing identities and celebrating mixed-race narratives.

Around The Day in 80 Worlds brings together disciplines, cultures, works of art, artists and languages, using poetry as a tool to break down barriers, promote diversity, pass on and democratise culture. As a demonstration of poetic utility, this programme emphasises the restorative role of poetry in re-establishing a link with the world and society.

Around The Day in 80 Worlds is a poetry, dance and theatre event featuring original, artistic and participatory performances and educational activities aimed at a wide audience in priority neighbourhoods and schools. Mot pour Mot is driven by a concern for openness and the promotion of decentralised cultural cooperation, and is looking beyond national borders for new exchange initiatives.

Around The Day in 80 Worlds reinvents poetic and artistic rituals, combining heritage texts, poetry from around the world and shared cultural heritage. This original and inclusive cooperation highlights the Mediterranean nation as a landmark, a centre of gravity.

In the 80 Worlds of our Around The Day, we have just completed the 7th edition in 2024, meeting great poets from here and there. This year, the writer Erri De Luca did us the honour of being the patron. Preparations are underway for the 8th edition, to be held in 2025. The Tunisian poet Tahar Bekri has done us the honour of being the patron of the 9th edition in 2026.

A breath of artistic fresh air at the heart of the French Schools Abroad network (AEFE)

Around The Day in 80 Worlds, at the crossroads of art, transmission and reflection, weaves sensitive links between young people in the port cities of the Mediterranean area. By touring shows to French schools abroad (AEFE), the event is much more than a simple cultural event: it's a bridge between continents, a lively and vibrant exchange of ideas around the French language and artistic creation. Through performances adapted to all ages, pupils discover original works, meet committed artists, and develop their critical senses as much as their imaginations. Our aim is to shine a spotlight on the AEFE network and make it an integral part of a dynamic of cultural and artistic education, open to the riches of the Mediterranean.
