POETREE

"How tree-like we are,
How human the tree is"
Gretel Ehrlich

The alarming reality of predicted climate disruption is creating a real ecological challenge. We urgently need to question the new relationship between man and his environment, to open new windows, to propose a different, more subtle way of looking at the world, to think together today and plant the seeds for tomorrow. Drawing on Francis Hallé's Universal Declaration of the Rights of Trees, as well as texts by Marc Alyn, Ronny Someck and Francis Combe, and including Hagit Grossman, Gretel Ehrlich, George Sand, Andrée Chedid, Émily Dickinson, Bruno Latour and Frédérique Aït-Touati, the tree-dancers, like trees of words, invite the audience to touch the bark, feel the verticality of the trunks in their bodies, and multiply like leaves. Through the tree and its representation, art awakens our consciousness and encourages us to change the way we look at things.
