MARE NOSTRO

United eternally by the Mediterranean Sea, Mare Nostro, ‘Our Sea’, evokes the journey, the discovery of different cultures around the Mediterranean basin and the influence it has on our own land. Mare Nostro show presents key poems on the theme of sharing the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean Sea and the countries that border it have never been static or closed; on the contrary, their openness has shaped the richness of each of the lands that make it up. Ever since it first appeared, the Mediterranean Sea has been inviting all the countries it borders to trade, to roam and to influence each other from one side of its basin to the other.
This blue show rises up to celebrate the Mediterranean Sea, this common good, this natural jewel.
Around the Mediterranean Sea, music and poetry have brought people together for centuries. Each shore, each island, has its own unique sounds and instruments, often inspired by nature, the waves and maritime life. Among the oldest and most emblematic are the oud, the ney, the darbouka and the bendir, all of which are bearers of history and memory, perpetually linking us to the sea. We explore its history through the different ages of the instruments.
Mare Nostro is a creation marked by the bucket of this cultural cradle, multiculturalism and the will to engage. In French and in the language of the host country, the artists will proclaim universal values that resonate with young people and the general public.
Mediterranean dynamism has been, among many other things, cultural and artistic. Mare Nostro brings a message of brotherhood, harmony and peace. This show reminds audiences that all the ports of the Mediterranean are looking in the same direction: that's where we need to draw our strength from.
Today, more than ever, it is vital to explain and promote the diversity that surrounds the Mediterranean and to live together creatively.
INTERRO-TEMPO
The show is followed by an inter-tempo, during which all the pupils in the class play together, promoting solidarity, fraternity and tolerance. As the cradle of several major civilisations, the Mediterranean has been a crossroads for cultural encounters since ancient times. Mediterranean music reflects these rich exchanges. Interro Tempo offers a percussive journey to continue our poetic odyssey, taking in the rhythms of Europe, the Middle East, Egypt and Andalusia... with a symbolic dimension promoting dialogue and peace through music.

Mare Nostro show, as part of Printemps des Poètes#27 in the town of Sète in 2025, has been approved for the Year of the Sea.
France is celebrating the Year of the Sea, a national initiative to raise awareness of the vital importance of the Mediterranean Sea, and to mark a historic meeting on the themes of the sea, art, culture, the environment and diversity in France in 2025.
"It's a precious, vital asset, but one that we know little about (less than distant planets), and one that we sometimes look at sideways, with fear or indifference. So it's time to look at this ocean, to which we owe so much, together, to get to know it better and take better care of it. That's what this Year of the Sea is all about: a year to understand - and then remember - that we all have The Sea in common, whatever our territory."
